We had the pleasure of speaking with Darel Pearson, Group Parts Manager at Haynes Agricultural, to gain a deeper understanding of the company’s rich history, future direction, and the vital role dealer management systems play in supporting its strategic objectives. With 14 years’ experience at Haynes, Darel brought a wealth of knowledge, insight and valuable perspectives on the operational and technological factors that continue to drive the business forward.
What does a good dealer management system look like to you?
Darel: “A good Dealer Management System (DMS) should supply everything a dealer needs to manage their business. It must be able to report quickly and accurately, giving us the data we need to make informed decisions. That can range from simple sales reports to deep analytical insights. The key is that it has to be timely and easy to use—we don’t have time to chase numbers.”
How has Gold changed/shaped/impacted the business / the way you work?
Darel: “Over the years, we’ve made several tweaks to how we work, but the biggest change Gold has brought is through Docstore. The ability to quickly find and retrieve documents has completely streamlined our admin processes. What used to take ages now takes minutes—everything is electronic, and that’s brought real savings in both time and cost. It’s made our day-to-day work much more efficient.”
What would you say to any companies currently reviewing their DMS and considering a move to Gold?
Darel: “I’d start by asking them: What do you like (and dislike) about your current DMS? That’s the first step. Then sit down with your team, draw up a clear plan of what you want your system to do, and get in touch with someone like Ibcos. They’ll help you shape that vision into a reality. Gold has made a big difference to us, and we’d recommend any business to take a serious look.”
