Web Shop IntegrationThere are two methods of interfacing a Web Shop with Ibcos Gold. The older method is a batch mode using .txt files for stock data upload and sales order download. The newer method is using a Web Service to make data requests real time; where this is done a full daily refresh of the stock data by the batch mode is also common. This enables the Web Shop to remain functional if the link back to the back office system is unavailable. The communication between a Web shop and the back office system is in two directions. The back office system needs to provide data to upload to the web to update the stock database in the shop. This is usually performed several times a day to ensure prices and stock levels are kept up to date. The web shop then needs the ability to pass sales orders into the back office system; we work with your web shop developer to agree which of the two methods suits best (batch method or web service). Once this is agreed we work with your web shop developer so that they understand how this communication works. Once the order arrives in Gold (the “back office” system) a sales order/advice note is created automatically and, when stock is available, a picking document is printed. Once picked and pick confirmed, the order can be packed and the invoice printed. Using web services the web shop can track the picking, packing and invoicing progress to give feedback to the customer. Most web shop developments are in some way “one off’s” hence we work with your chosen web developer to give a slick working solution. This web integration underpins your individual web shop development.
