Parts/Stock PDAThe PDA hand held stock system can be used to carry out many Gold stock functions without the aid of a terminal; the PDA makes these functions completely portable. For some tasks in a warehouse, or retail shop environment, this portable computing power is invaluable. These tasks include stock enquiries, making a picking list to import as a sales order, creating a purchase order to replenish stock in a showroom, booking in stock against a purchase order away from a terminal and carrying out mobile stock checks. The built-in barcode scanner and touch sensitive screen quickly and efficiently captures the data. Cost prices are shown in encrypted format only for security. The files created on the PDA (pick lists, stock orders, goods received notes and stock checks) are then transferred into the core system. The main system then finishes the task including printing the correct paperwork if required. AA new enhancement has been recently added to confirm picking a customer order in a warehouse using the Parts/Stock PDA. In this case the PDA extracts the details of stock lines that need to be picked to fulfil warehouse shipments. The PDA then presents the lines to the operator in bin location order allowing the operator to confirm the picking or to log a picking shortfall. Once all the lines are complete the picking confirmation is sent back into the core system. This can optionally print picking labels for the shipment and once in the core system the final advice note is printed to be sent with the items to the customer. The data capture, on the PDA to confirm each line, can either be via the in-built scanner or the touch screen. Key features include:
This option will suit some business types well and will offer little to others – the solution must match your business model.
